I am Professor of History at the Center for Republican History and Associate Dean for Graduate Education and Research at the School of History, Nanjing University. I was previously affiliated with Tsinghua University where I earned my PhD degree (2007); the Center for Chinese Studies, University of Michigan where I was a Postdoctoral Fellow (2007-2009); and the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies, Harvard University where I was a Visiting Scholar (2016-2017).
My research interests include quantitative history, social history, and the history of higher education and academic employment in modern and contemporary China. My publications include over twenty articles in such journals as 《中国社会科学》、《历史研究》、《社会学研究》、《近代史研究》as well as two books: Liang Chen, Zhang Hao, James Z.
