HKUST SHSS AND CEFC RENEW MOU TO FURTHER DEVELOP RESEARCH TIES 

HKUST’s School of Humanities and Social Science marked a significant milestone in academic collaboration with the French Centre for Research on Contemporary China (CEFC) by renewing their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the second time. This celebration of partnership took place at the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong & Macau under the theme "Fostering Collaboration; Celebrating Research Partnership" on 12 September 2025.

The event started with welcoming speeches by esteemed guests including Mr. Bertrand Lortholary, Ambassador of France to China ; Mr. Fermin Cuevas, Director of the National de la Recherche Scientifique Office in China, and Prof. Cameron Campbell, Acting Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Science HKUST. The gathering also welcomed notable participants such as Mrs. Christile Drulhe, Consul General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, HKUST Provost Yike Guo, the School of Humanities and Social Science Heads and Associate Deans, CEFC personnel and other HKUST faculty and students.

The renewal of this MoU signifies a commitment to deepening ties between HKUST and CEFC, enhancing cross-cultural understanding and research capabilities over the next five years. This synergy will enable scholars to tackle complex social, political, and cultural issues collaboratively. The partnership seeks to leverage the rich resources and expertise available at HKUST and CEFC both institutions to promote joint research projects, academic exchanges, and collaborative initiatives related to contemporary China, and promote academic ties between France, Hong Kong and the region.
