Ming Kit SIU (SHSS) has received the Common Core Student Recognition Award
Congratulations to our Global China Studies Year 4 student, SIU Ming Kit, for his achievement in the Common Core Award.
Jacky completed a Common Core course, EMIA 1901 Introduction to Smart City Development, in Fall 2025, and contributed to a project titled WeGuide. Jacky developed a mobile app prototype with his teammates to assist individuals with visual impairments—for example, by supporting road navigation—with the goal of promoting a more barrier-free society.
Through the common core training, Jacky gained valuable insights from multiple perspectives: (1) the importance of acquiring new skills and knowledge; (2) the benefits of learning from peers and talented students; (3) the development of critical thinking skills, particularly in today’s rapidly evolving AI landscape; (4) a broader understanding of the world; and (5) exposure to a wide range of disciplines, including the arts, humanities, and technology.
